New look, new method

Today, The Nobot made some revisions to the look of this page. Turns out there’s a whole story here. This morning The Nobette told me that when TN set up the page, he set a page theme for me. I had changed it before I even knew it was there. As I was deciding which page theme to use, I asked myself, “What look would TN choose?” When I found one that looked like one he’d use, I chose it. Turns out it was the very look he chose for his spec.this.miata blog. The changes TN made today added some color and my own banner to the page. I’m happy!

All week I’ve been painting on the next two rugs. Today, I hemmed them. In the past, I’ve always done the hems last. This time I’m hemming, touching up the edges, and then putting the sealer on. I am also going to try out non-skid rug backing. Before I put it on the rugs, I’ll do a dry run on a small piece of canvas. I hope it works, it would be nice to have a bit of gription built in.

Writing code to make this page look like mine and figuring out how to make beautiful rugs efficiently - we all find our ways to be creative!

Let’s go!

My blog will focus on the exploration and integration of spiritual life and creativity. It will almost certainly develop organically - one thing leading to another. If there are interesting tangents along the way, so much the better! I expect that most of my readers will be people who are interested in the life of faith and the ways they find to creatively express their faith. My general rule of life is 10% seriousness, 90% fun. This rule will be operative

Just a brief introduction as I get started. My husband, Dick, and I live in Bellingham, WA. Our three children are all married and have children of their own. I’ve also adopted another family with two children. All these kids are a great blessing in our lives. My life tends to revolve around my family.

I work as a spiritual director. Did you just say, “A what?” Spiritual directors are trained to listen. When I meet with a client (we call them “directees”) I listen to their stories and help them notice and examine in detail God’s activity in their life. This is exceptionally satisfying work! I will never tell stories from my work here! However, I am always studying and paying attention to spiritual life and formation. My thoughts on both will be given exercise here.

I am also a painter. My latest project is painting canvas floorcloths. This work will show up often in this blog. I anticipate working out my ideas here.

Watch for updates weekly.

Grace and Peace to you!

Mimi’s test

Just figuring out how this all works.
